State funds for updating or building new facilities on campus.
Capital outlay is a portion of the state budget that is devoted to the planning and financing of construction, renovation, remodeling, repair and maintenance of facilities and capital assets for use by state agencies, state-supported public universities. When requested by the State Budget Office, UM-Dearborn submits a project for funding in an effort to continue its ability to offer students, faculty and staff with state-of-the-art research and learning facilities.
UM-Dearborn’s current capital outlay request, renovation of the Mardigian Library, was submitted on October 31, 2017, for consideration in the FY19 state budget. Our previous request, replacement of the Engineering Laboratory Building, was approved in 2016, with construction authorization approved in 2017. Groundbreaking for the new building is scheduled for spring 2018.
