Keeping in touch and getting through this together

March 23, 2020

Let's stay connected. The UM-Dearborn family can get through this hard time together. Staff Senate is exploring various ways to safely interact and support our community.

Asking people to socially isolate is going to have impacts on people's loneliness and mental well being. We want to help our UM-Dearborn family stay connected, comforted and supported. In the last Staff Senate meeting, we discussed opportunities to see, hear, and "be" with each other. Ideas include:

  • Wednesday Lunch Brown Bags - a casual, virtual lunch hour where people can eat lunch together online. Some standing topics of discussion is sharing recipes or what books people are reading. Here's a running list of our conversation topics and links.
  • Virtual Happy Hour or Game Nights hosted by Senators.
  • Online Programming on relevant topics, such as parenting while working remotely, updates from on COVID-19 from local physicians and health professionals, financial literacy during a turbulent time, and other topics.
