Get to Know the Information Technology Services(ITS) Team

Have you called the ITS desk recently? Ever curious who is on the end of the other line, helping you resolve your IT headaches? Anitra Wells, Brian Hoang, and Matt Speck are on the front lines of IT support on the Dearborn campus--answering phones, updating tickets, supporting you in remote sessions, and elevating issues to other teams within ITS to get you the assistance you need. Here’s some fun facts about a few of the ITS team members: 

Anitra Wells, Service Center Support Specialist

  • How long have you worked for ITS?
    Since 2013.
  • What do you like about working at Dearborn?
    It’s a small campus, and I get to meet and connect more deeply with people. I enjoy working with my fellow ITS team members.
  • What’s the last show you binge-watched?
    1995 Pride and Prejudice TV Series

Brian Hoang, Service Center Support Specialist/Network Controller

  • When did you start working for ITS?
    In 2016.
  • What do you like about working at Dearborn?
    One of the things I like about working at UM-Dearborn is how closely knit the community is. It feels like everyone knows each other and that's not something you can get anywhere else.
  • What’s the last show you binge-watched?
    Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix--it still holds up after all this time.

Matt Speck, Service Center Support Specialist 

  • When did you start working for ITS?
    In 2014.
  • What do you like about working at Dearborn?
    My role is rewarding; I get to be involved with supporting technology across campus for everyone.  From being a part of faculty teaching, supporting their research needs, and even working with students from all levels--I get to be involved in all of it!
  • What’s the last show you binge-watched?
    Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul and The IT Crowd.

ITS: We’re Here for You

In March, most of the campus--faculty and staff--started working from home. Since that time the information technology service(ITS) desk has been working hard to adapt to this new reality, and has implemented additional tools to support the campus’s IT needs remotely.  To help simplify communication and help resolve problems quickly, we’ve added chat support. Visiting the remote support page and submitting an issue will allow you to chat with a live service desk technician. Also, we’ve extended chat support to include Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The ITS desk is open Monday-Thursday from 8 am - 8 pm, and Fridays from 8 am - 5 pm. 

The ITS service desk can be reached via phones, email and through the self-service portal.  The self-service portal allows you to submit requests, check on status, or update current requests. Also, you have access to Knowledge Base articles to answer questions about many common requests or problems that you may be experiencing.

The ITS Service Desk is here to help you!  The campus relies heavily on IT support and we are eager to assist you whenever you need it. The ITS team works collaboratively in the Service Desk room, Mardigian Library 1215.
