Keeping our policies organized on the website
As we continue to improve the UM-Dearborn website, the Web Services team wants to ensure that our content is as findable, accurate, and up-to-date as possible.
Some of the most important content on our website for students, faculty, staff and broader members of our community pertains to university policies.
We established a policy working group comprised of individuals in Academic Affairs, Registration & Records, Financial Services, External Relations and Human Resources to provide insight.
The short-term goal of this group is to update the website by:
Removing incorrectly presented, outdated or trivial policies
Reconciling duplicate policies and establishing a single website owner for that policy content
Moving policy web pages to a single repository on our website.
How you can help
Relevant web content owners and editors will receive a spreadsheet that outlines all the policies listed on their webpages. Please take time to review this spreadsheet and related web material closely--then complete the "homework" provided.
The week of May 7, we will send the spreadsheet and instructions to each group's owner and editor with a due date and time of May 18, EOD.
The week of May 21, we will process the findings and share with the working group for reviewing, flagging specific individuals who may need to provide input in specific cases.
The week of May 28 (Memorial Day), we will resubmit spreadsheet and instructions to each group's owner and editor for a second pass. Edits must be complete and returned by June 8, EOD.
The week of June 11, we will process the findings and share with the working group for reviewing, flagging specific individuals who may need to provide input in specific cases.
The week of June 18, the final spreadsheet will be shared with content owners and editors with the expectation that duplicated, outdated or incorrect policies must be taken off their pages by June 29.
