Fall Updates 8/21/2020

The final preparations are under way for the start of the upcoming academic year.
The final preparations are under way for the start of the upcoming academic year. Our decisions continue to be rooted in keeping our students, faculty and staff safe and healthy while providing the robust academic experience expected at UM-Dearborn. There have been a few new developments this week that are important to note.
Beginning Monday, August 24, the daily health screening process that has been required for those coming to campus will look a little different. U-M has rebranded the three question health screening, naming it ResponsiBLUE. ResponsiBLUE is an accessible, mobile-friendly website (responsiblue.umich.edu) that students, faculty and staff will log into to complete their health check before they can come to campus. Authentication is now required for the online health screening. For members of the campus community who do not have a cell phone or mobile device, health screening questions will be asked verbally at buildings with screening locations. The previous url (healthscreen.umich.edu) still works and now points to the new site. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to use ResponsiBLUE at the beginning of the day, regardless of whether they are present in-person or working or studying from home, as a good and simple measure to monitor your health.
In order to keep the campus community safe and contain the spread of COVID-19, testing is strongly recommended for students, faculty, staff and graduate student instructors who will be working or taking classes on campus this fall. UM-Dearborn students living in cohorts at the Union at Dearborn, Fairlane Woods and Fairlane Meadows are also encouraged to get a COVID-19 test. Early Childhood Education Center employees and students working at the center are required to be tested.
The university has established a partnership with Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) to provide testing at no cost to the groups identified for recommended or required testing. Testing is available at the Henry Ford Medical Center Fairlane (across Evergreen from the main campus) now through September 4, 2020, weekdays from 8am to 4pm, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call HFHS (at 313-982-8442) Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Testing is drive through or walk through. For this time period, ending September 4, testing costs not covered by personal health insurance will be covered by the university. For those identified, if testing at Henry Ford Medical Center Fairlane is not convenient, we recommend that you find other test locations on the state of Michigan website. If you elect to go to another site you will be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses. Please review the details of the testing program on the website.
Finally, thank you if you attended this week’s faculty and staff virtual town hall. The recording of Tuesday’s faculty and staff meeting regarding the fall plan has been posted to the website. You may view the student virtual town hall on the website as well.
We will send a final preparatory email next week with the most up-to-date information related to the start of the fall semester. You can always find information on the Go Safe-Go Blue-Go Dearborn website regarding our COVID-19 response and fall plan.
Thank you for being part of our university and for continuing to help make campus as safe as possible while we all work together to provide a great Michigan education to our students.
Go Safe. Go Blue. Go Dearborn!
