Chancellor Domenico Grasso was inducted into the 2019 class of Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) Fellows, recognizing him for his contributions to teaching, research and service in the environmental engineering field. Grasso’s research has delved into the fate of environmental contaminants and the development of techniques to reduce risks to human health and the natural world. He’s also considered an influential thinker in the field of engineering education and has argued for the importance of the social sciences, arts and humanities in better contextualizing the relevance of STEM education.
Economics Assistant Professor Antonios Koumpias’ article "The Impact of Media Campaigns on Tax Filing; Quasi-Experimental Evidence from Pakistan" (with Jorge Martinez-Vazquez) has been accepted for publication the Journal of Asian Economics.
Computer and Information Science Associate Professor Di Ma and Professor Brahim Medjahed received the 2018 Trevor O. Jones Outstanding Paper Award from SAE for their paper titled as "Analyzing and Preventing Data Privacy Leakage in Connected Vehicle Services." This is a joint work with former GSRA Huaxin Li (currently employed with Google) and their Ford collaborators Pramita Mitra and Yu Seung Kim. This Award honors the authors of written paper which is judged primarily for its value as technically new and innovative contributions to the existing knowledge base of transportation electronics. It consists of a medal and $5000 honorarium. The Awards & Recognition Ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 9 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan.
