The Board of Regents approved new UM-Dearborn appointments, acknowledged major campus gifts and more at the Oct. 21 meeting of the U-M Board of Regents.

The ELB received additional funding through a generous donation recognized by the Board of Regents at the Oct. 21 meeting.

Chancellor Domenico Grasso provided the following campus updates at the public meeting. He shared news of the ribbon cutting ceremony of the ELB, the recent National Science Foundation grant for assisting underserved students in STEM fields, the “Walk and Roll Junior Challenge” at Dearborn Public Schools, and shared the Go Blueprint for Success executive quarterly summary.

The Regents approved the following committee appointment and personnel actions.

Citizens Advisory Committee

Mary A. Zatina, general manager, WDET public radio. Effective October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025.

New appointments of instructional staff represented by the Lecturers’ Employee Organization.

Terra J. Mauer, Ph.D., Lecturer I, Biological Sciences, Department of Natural Sciences, CASL, September 1 – December 31,2021.

Lucas Stahl, B.S., Lecturer I, Physical Sciences, Department of Natural Sciences, CASL, September 1 – December 31, 2021.

The following gifts of $10,000 or more were recognized.

Anonymous Donor, $250,000 in support of the John H. and Patricia W. Mitchell Business Communication Lab Fund

Regent Ronald N. Weiser and Mrs. Eileen Weiser, $125,000 in support of the UM-Dearborn Engineering Lab Building Renovation Fund

FedEx Corporation, $50,000 in support of the Henry Maier Scholarship Fund

Ford Motor Company, $27,000 in support of the Formula SAE Combustion Team, the Formula SAE Electric Team, the Intelligent Systems Club, and the Michigan Aeronautical Science Association (MASA)

Ford Motor Company Fund, $13,000 in support of the Formula SAE Combustion Team, the Formula SAE Electric Team, and the Hackathon

Foren Family Foundation, $32,000 in support of the Foren Family Student Project Fund
