Regents update: June 2019

The Regents approved UM-Dearborn’s FY20 operating budget.

Chancellor Grasso shared news of this year’s Research Experience for Undergraduates, a program sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Students from MIT, Texas A&M, U-M Ann Arbor, Pomona College and others, are joining UM-Dearborn students and faculty to research math-related problems.

The chancellor also shared news of the recent Celebrating Donors event, where the campus thanked our generous donors for their support over the past year. News regarding the upcoming UM-Dearborn Night at Comerica Park was also shared with the Regents.

The personnel actions below were approved at the meeting.

Reappointments of regular instructional staff and selected academic and administrative staff:

Di Ma, acting associate dean for graduate education and research, CECS, effective June 1, 2019 (also associate professor of computer and information science, with tenure).

Maya Barak, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.
Nancy H. Wrobel, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.
Yunus E. Zeytuncu, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.

COB Executive Committee

Hei-Wai Lee, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.
Janice Molloy, retroactive, two-year term, July 1, 2018 through August 31, 2020.
Young K. Ro, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.

CEHHS Executive Committee

Mesut Duran, new appointment, three-year term, September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.

The following retirement memoir was approved:
Jane P. Sheldon, professor of psychology, CASL, retired from active faculty status on April 30, 2019.
