Arrr, matey! Pirates ruled Halloween this year at the Henry Ford Estate

November 7, 2011

Skeleton sitting on bench at 9th annual Halloween Trick or Treat in the Gardens eventPirates were the theme of this year’s 9th annual “Halloween Trick or Treat in the Gardens” event, hosted by the Henry Ford Estate Garden Volunteers.

On Oct. 24, two hundred children and their families attended the sold out event, which included a loop route through the gardens with 10 trick-or-treat stations. Garden volunteers, dressed in silly and spooky costumes, guided the children through the decorated route and offered both tasty treats and educational game sheets to take home and enjoy.

The Henry Ford Estate gardens remain open to the public on weekdays only from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are closed on the weekends.  All Estate buildings are now closed to accommodate future restoration efforts.

One exception is the Henry Ford Estate’s annual holiday wreath-making workshop, scheduled for Nov. 19, 9 a.m. – noon.  Registration and pre-payment of $35, which includes materials, is required.  Contact Karen Marzonie or Pamela Morrison at 313-701-2240 or 313-701-2241 to register for this event.  Limited seating.  The program is for adults and youth ages 12 and up.
