Campus community increases participation and contributions to United Way

December 6, 2010

United Way logoThe UM-Dearborn campus community showed once again its generosity and concern for others in need living in southeastern Michigan during this year's United Way Annual Giving Campaign.

Faculty and staff contributions totaled $25,415. This figure represents over a 10 percent increase in the amount raised last year. Total employee participation rose approximately 3 percent over last year.

Campus contributions will be allocated to the United Way's core areas of focus that are key to improving the lives of residents of southeastern Michigan - educational services, income and financial responsibility training and basic needs. Faculty and staff also had the option to designate contributions to a specific United Way agency or office serving a county outside of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb.

This year's United Way campaign committee was sponsored by Kate Davy and the Office of the Provost and chaired by Don Bord and Trisha Schlaff. The following faculty and staff members also served on the 2010 committee:

  • Helene Boldarini
