Digital marketing degree comes to College of Business

Digital Marketing DegreeUM-Dearborn’s College of Business (COB) has launched a new digital marketing major that will be available beginning fall 2011 to students in the B.B.A. program. This exciting new program is one of only two digital marketing programs across the nation and will provide students with the skills needed to succeed in this rapidly changing landscape.

Digital Marketing is the practice of promoting products and services using database-driven online distribution channels to reach consumers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner.

COB’s digital marketing major prepares students for all areas of the industry by providing a diverse course curriculum including new courses MKT 455 E-tailing and Retailing, MKT 458 Communications Strategy & New Media, MKT 363 Digital Consumer Search & Marketing and MKT 463 Digital Analytics and Content. The College also recently announced that it had named entrepreneur and best-selling author Josh Linkner entrepreneur-in-residence and adjunct professor of applied creativity. Linkner, CEO and managing partner of Detroit Venture Partners, a venture capital firm helping to rebuild urban areas through technology and entrepreneurship, will partner with College of Business and University faculty, staff and senior leadership to infuse programs and courses with his innovative principles. The first piece of the partnership will have Linkner working to transform his best-selling book, Disciplined Dreaming: A Proven System to Drive Breakthrough Creativity, into an educational experience for UM-Dearborn students.
