Digital Marketing: Social Media Marketing Projects

Philipp Rauschnabel is introducing students in his digital marketing course to these new methods by offering hands-on lessons writing blogs and building websites in WordPress.

Over the last 20 years the marketing industry has changed the methods it uses to market products and services to consumers. Philipp Rauschnabel, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, is introducing students in his digital marketing course to these new methods by offering hands-on lessons writing blogs and building websites in WordPress.

Last winter, professor Rauschnabel tasked students to develop a website related to a topic they found interesting. The students researched topics and key words to evaluate the competition and whether or not there was a sufficient demand for their topic. In order to drive traffic to their website they implemented best practices for on- and off-page SEO, implemented a social media marketing strategy, secured multiple stakeholders, and monitored key performance indicators and Google Analytics. They were graded, in part, based on the amount of web traffic their social media marketing strategy drove to their website. Take a look at what our students have been working on.
