Free tickets available to Jewish Film Festival

The Voice/Vision Holocaust Survivor Oral History Archive, the Mardigian Library and the Office of the Provost are co-sponsoring three films at the 14th- Annual Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival. The festival is hosted by the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit.

The Mardigian Library will co-sponsor The Rescuers. The Rescuers is a documentary that highlights the efforts of a young Rwandan anti-genocide activist and a leading Holocaust historian as they conduct interviews with the descendants of Holocaust survivors and the descendants of those who helped save them during World War II.

The Rescuers will be shown on Monday, April 23, at 5 p.m., at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts.

The Voice/Vision Archive will co-sponsor the film Nicky’s Family, which tells the story of Sir Nicholas Winton, who rescued more than 660 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia in 1939.

Nicky’s Family will be shown at noon on Sunday, April 29, at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts.

Finally, the Office of the Provost is co-sponsoring the film My So-Called Enemy. My So-Called Enemy follows seven years of communications and relationships between Israeli and Palestinian girls who participated in the Building Bridges for Peace Program in 2002.

My So-Called Enemy will be shown at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, in Handleman Hall at the Jewish Community Center and will be followed by a discussion led by Jamie Wraight, curator of the Voice/Vision Holocaust Survivor Oral History Archive.
