Congratulations!

Ismael Ahmed, associate provost for metropolitan impact, was one of four community leaders recognized October 23 by the Arab American Institute for his work as a political and community activist.

P.K. Mallick, William E. Stirton Professor of Mechanical Engineering, was elected a fellow of the American Society of Composites during the organization’s annual technical meeting. Mallick was recognized for “his outstanding contributions to the advancement of composites science and technology.”

Zhimin Xi, assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, Rong Jing, and Cheol Lee, associate professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, won a Top 10 Best Paper Award at the 2015 ASME IDETC: Design Automation Conference. Their paper, “Diagnostics, Prognostics, and Uncertainty Management of Lithium-ion Batteries,” investigated recent research developments of lithium-ion batteries.
