Kudos: Bowlin, H. Czap, N. Cazp, Hickey and Smith

For the past five years, Melissa Bowlin, assistant professor of biology, has been working with Science Buddies--a nonprofit developer of software, content and other resources for informal science and engineering education. The program recently received the Science Prize for Online Resources in Education (SPORE) from the journal Science. Bowlin serves as a moderator on Science Buddies' "Ask an Expert" forums and she has participated in the Academic Outreach Partnership.

Hans Czap, adjunct assistant professor of economics, and Natalia Czap, assistant professor of economics, have published their outreach/extension paper (co-authored with Marianna Khachaturyan, Mark Burbach, and Gary Lynne) titled, "Do Emotions Matter in Environmental Choice? The Effect of :) and :(" in Cornhusker Economics.

Georgina Hickey, associate professor of history, has published an article, “From Civility to Self Defense: Modern Advice to Women on the Privileges and Dangers of Public Space,” in the Spring/Summer issue of Women’s Studies Quarterly.

Patricia Smith, professor of economics, wrote an article, "The Freshman 15: A Critical Time for Obesity Intervention or Media Myth?" with Jay Zagorsky, which has been accepted for publication in Social Science Quarterly.
