Kudos: McLeer, Izberk-Bilgin, promotions

Dorothy McLeer, program coordinator and interpretive naturalist at University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Environmental Interpretive Center, recently received the John D. Dingell Friend of the Refuge Award. The award, from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on behalf of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge (DRIWR) and the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance (IWRA), recognizes leadership and dedication to conservation on the refuge. McLeer serves on the IWRA education committee and regularly conducts interpretive programs for the refuge.

Elif Izberk-Bilgin, assistant professor of marketing, received the 2012 Sidney J. Levy Award. The award recognizes the best consumer culture theory-oriented dissertation article published in the preceding year. Her article, "Infidel Brands: Unveiling Alternative Meanings of Global Brands at the Nexus of Globalization, Consumer Culture, and Islamism," was published in the December 2012 Journal of Consumer Research.

The U-M Regents approved promotions for 18 UM-Dearborn faculty members at their May meeting. The faculty members receiving promotions are:
