Chronicle of Higher Education now available online

Can’t get hold of a copy of the current The Chronicle of Higher Education? The Mardigian Library now provides campus-wide online access to The Chronicle. Information from the print version is posted online on Mondays, and updates are added throughout the week. In addition to access to the latest articles, there are many other features only available in the online version, such as a searchable archive, “The Chronicle Review,” complete data from the annual “Almanac of Higher Education,” and multi-media extras.  Access The Chronicle at: http://library.umd.umich.edu/research/redirect.php?ID=545

Join the book discussion group for another great R.E.A.D.

The next meeting of the R.E.A.D. book discussion group will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 1210 of the Mardigian Library. The book is The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

Three extraordinary women forever change their town when they decide it's time for things to change. Set in the South during the early 1960s, the story describes how the women start a small civil rights movement of their own. Filled with poignancy, humor and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don’t. It will make you think about segregation in a whole new light. The book quickly became a bestseller, but is not without controversy. Please join us for an interesting discussion.

The library has copies of The Help both in paper format and on our new Kindles. Ask at the Circulation Desk about the Kindles.

Everyone is welcome! Light refreshments will be provided.
