Earlier this month, the Connected Vehicle Proving Center (CVPC) hosted the 2011 WAVE Seminar, a one-day event that brought together engineers and technical managers from industry, government and academia to discuss connected vehicle technical issues related to Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE), Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC), Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Telematics and IntelliDriveSM.
The March 11 seminar, which took place in UM-Dearborn's Institute for Advanced Vehicle Systems Building, provided insights into the strategic direction and technical challenges facing the connected vehicle industry.
On display during the seminar was General Motors’ EN-V, short for Electric Networked Vehicle, which is seen in the above photo along with John Cain (from left), CVPC alliance program manager; Steve Underwood, CVPC director; and Mohammad Poorsartep, CVPC research assistant.
The EN-V concept represents a vision of the future of urban personal mobility, including a feature that would allow the vehicle to park itself and automatically return to the user when summoned from a smartphone application.
