Showcasing undergraduate research

4/12/2011

College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters student Michael Fritz (above) talks about his study on "Computational and Experimental Investigations of Isotope Scrambling in Ethanolamine Hydrobromide" during CASL's inaugural Undergraduate Research Showcase on March 25.

Fritz was one of more than 30 CASL students who used the showcase as an opportunity to discuss their scholarly projects---which covered a wide variety of areas from psychology to history to the sciences---and receive campus-wide recognition for the research.

Students shared their research findings with showcase visitors, and nine undergraduate researchers were given the opportunity to hold a live multi-media talk about their work.

CASL administrators hope to hold next year's research showcase in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of "Meeting of Minds," the undergraduate research conference sponsored by UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, and Oakland University. UM-Dearborn will host "Meeting of the Minds" next year.

Visit the CASL website to view additional photos from the event, or to read the abstracts of students who participated in the program.
