Two writing workshops offered for Dearborn faculty

October 11, 2010

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is sponsoring two writing workshops for faculty members in October. There is no cost to attend a workshop but space is very limited and registration is required. To reserve a spot, send an e-mail to Deb Schneider at [email protected]. Please be sure to indicate which workshop you would like to attend.

Thursday, Oct. 21: Scholarly Writing Workshop, 8:15 a.m. - Noon.
Topics will include: confronting the myths about writing, overcoming the major obstacles to writing, developing habits that promote writing, and sustaining writing momentum. Breakfast will be provided.

Friday, October 22: Proposal Writing Workshop, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
This workshop introduces faculty to the research grants process. Topics will include: finding funding, writing a compelling and convincing proposal, dealing with reviewers comments, and writing when time is scarce. Lunch will be provided.

The workshops will be presented by Robert Lucas, director of the Institute for Scholarly Productivity in San Luis Obispo, California. Lucas has conducted workshops on the Dearborn campus several times in the past and is a knowledgeable and dynamic speaker.
