UM-Dearborn alumni elected to state office

UM-Dearborn Block MMany UM-Dearborn alumni have continued the University’s legacy of leadership in their lives and careers. These men and women are making a positive impact today in their communities and serve as strong role models for a new generation of UM-Dearborn student leaders. Many alumni serve in public office, and recently some were elected or re-elected to state and federal offices (see below).

Mary Beth Kelly (‘84 B.A.) – Justice, Michigan Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the state and consists of seven justices who are elected to eight-year terms.
Vicki Lynn Barnett (‘81 B.G.S., ‘93 M.B.A.) - Michigan House of Representatives – District 37, which includes Farmington and Farmington Hills
Paul Clemente (‘85 B.B.A.) - Michigan House of Representatives – District 14, which covers the inner ring of downriver suburbs -- including Ecorse, Lincoln Park, Melvindale and part of Allen Park.
George Darany (‘78 B.A.) - Michigan House of Representatives - District 15 is located in Wayne County and includes Dearborn.
Shanelle Jackson (‘03 B.A.) - Michigan House of Representatives – District 9, which includes the portion of the City of Detroit bounded on the north by 8 Mile and on the south by Fenkell St. and Lyndon.
Lesia Liss (‘07 B.A.) - Michigan House of Representatives - District 28, which covers parts of Macomb County include Centerline and portions of Warren.
