“Help will not be far away as everyone migrates,” said Catherine Parkins, Google Guide in the School of Education.
Wearing maize and white Google Guide t-shirts, volunteers will be placed in public spaces across campus for drop-in questions and assistance. They also will visit offices to help faculty and staff get set up and started using Google.
The guides can help with the use of new collaboration tools—like mail, calendar, docs, and sites. They will also point users to online resources for additional information.
Guides attended training sessions and migrated to Google early to familiarize themselves with the new features.
“I’ve spent a lot of time since my migration playing with different options so I’ll be able to help co-workers experiment with how they want their features to look and work,” Parkins said.
Need more help? Overview sessions will be held March 7, 13 and 15 to provide basic information and tips. Hands-on sessions will be provided after Go Live, which will outline features and share tips and tricks.
