The Office of Metropolitan Impact provides engagement support to faculty, students and community partners through a variety of ways. OMI conducts a biennial inventory of engagement activity across campus, hosts and sponsors a variety community-based events, awards community-based research and engagement grants for faculty as well as participates in and completes a variety of other activities that support mutually beneficial community and campus engagement activities.
Inter-Campus Collaborations and Engagement
OMI cultivates close partnerships with each University of Michigan campus.
- OMI connects with the Ann Arbor campus through Poverty Solutions, providing programming such as the Poverty Simulation, as well as connecting Dearborn students to Ann Arbor researchers.
- Additionally, Semester in Detroit is a program through Ann Arbor that is open to UM-Dearborn students. In the program, students live, learn, and work in Detroit, collaborating with community members and leaders.
