March 31, 2022 at 9:13 AM
Dear Colleagues;
I hope you all are doing well. I want to remind you all that our inaugural Engaged Scholarship Showcase will be held virtually next Friday, April 8, starting at 12:30 p.m. You can register for the event here.
The Showcase is intended to highlight UM-Dearborn faculty who are actively involved in engaged scholarship; showing the value of participating in such activities; providing some tips and guidance of how faculty can get involved; and offer information about the mechanics of doing engaged scholarship.
The program will consist of two keynote speakers (starting at 12:30 p.m.):
- Lina Dostilio, Vice Chancellor of Engagement and Community Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, an expert in engaged scholarship, and
- Laura Dyszlewski, Healthy Dearborn, project manager, who will speak on the impact of UM-Dearborn faculty working in the community.
Additionally, the Showcase will feature two faculty panels (starting at approximately 1:30 p.m.):
- “Showcasing the Work of UM-Dearborn Faculty,” in which we will highlight four faculty members: DeLean Tolbert Smith, Jacob Napieralski, Yi Su Chen and Dara Hill, whose work engages with industry, government and/or community, and
- A “Nuts & Bolts” panel, in which three experienced faculty, Paul Draus, Fred Feng and Marcus Harris, will discuss the mechanics of engaged scholarship.
Each part of the program will also be accompanied by Q&A sessions.
If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Jabbusch (jabbusch@umich.edu) or Alex Yi (yashayi@umich.edu).
Thank you and I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!
