Wolverine Mentor Collective

Starting at a new campus can be challenging sometimes, and the Wolverine Mentor Collective (Wolverine MC) is available to enhance your student experience by connecting you to current UM-Dearborn Wolverines or alumni.

As a mentee, you'll learn what to expect from UM-Dearborn classes, how to connect to student organizations and other opportunities, start to build your network, and gain career advice and other valuable insights.

As a mentor, you can share your experiences from UM-Dearborn or, for alumni, in your current field as you listen, inspire, and help students navigate challenges and recognize opportunities while developing your own professional and leadership skills.

Mentor Collective's online platform provides training and resources for student mentors and makes it easy for mentors and mentees to connect. All matches are made based on common interests, background, academics and professional aspirations. Pairings last throughout the academic year.

What do mentors and mentees discuss?

It's really up to you! As a mentee, you should take the initiative to reach out and engage with your mentor - what do you want to discuss? Some common topics include:

  • How will my major impact my professional options?
  • How do I balance the demands of school, responsibilities, and socializing?
  • How can I set myself up for academic, social, and career success?
  • How do I make connections with peers and professional contacts?

Not sure how to start the conversation? Check out this informational interview guide from Career Services to get ideas - remember, your mentor is there to help you, so share what's on your mind!
