We are pleased to announce an opportunity for you to receive a COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, April 16 on campus, and we strongly encourage you to make an appointment as soon as possible. Getting vaccinated will help us all get back to the activities we love more quickly.
UM-Dearborn will receive a total of 200 doses of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine, which will be available to you, our students, at no cost. Only one shot is needed.
The Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine is highly effective at preventing severe illness from COVID-19. This vaccine is only authorized for those 18 years old and above and is safe. All shots will be administered by appointment only, and registration is required.
In order to receive an invitation to schedule an appointment for this UM-Dearborn student vaccine clinic you must be registered through the Michigan Medicine Blue Queue system. Information on the clinic and how to register in the Blue Queue system can be found on our COVID-19 vaccine website.
Invitations will be issued via the Blue Queue system. If you’re among the many UM-Dearborn students who have already completed the full registration process and expressed interest in getting a vaccine, you’re already eligible to be invited. Michigan Medicine will send invitations in waves to randomly selected students beginning as early as tomorrow until all spots are full.
If you have not yet completed the Blue Queue questionnaire or would like to update your vaccination interest, please click here.
FEMA and the state of Michigan continue to operate a mass-vaccination site at Ford Field, in Detroit. Registration is now open.
There are three options to register for a vaccine:
- Go to the Meijer registration page.
- Text "COVID" TO 75049.
- Michigan residents who don’t have access to the internet or who need assistance navigating the vaccine registration process can call the MDHHS COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136 (press 1) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After you complete the registration process, you will receive an invitation either by voice or text when it's your turn to schedule the appointment. Vaccine appointments will be scheduled a few days in advance of the actual appointment. Additional information regarding the Ford Field site can be found on the website.
Those interested in receiving the vaccine are strongly encouraged to also sign up with your local health department and retail pharmacies, information and helpful links for that are on the COVID website. You are encouraged to seek the best and most convenient option and to accept the vaccine type that is available.
Thank you for your commitment to the health of our community. We know that this is a very busy time for our students, and we appreciate your willingness to seize this opportunity to be vaccinated and help us all enjoy more gatherings and in-person activities in the months ahead.
