We assist motorists, handle matters of parking enforcement and take on-campus accident reports.

Motorist Assistance

If you experience car trouble on campus, call the UM-Dearborn Department of Police & Public Safety. We can assist you with such problems as:

  • Dead car batteries
  • Frozen door locks
  • Lost cars
  • Keys locked in the car
  • Flat tires

Provide your location and the make, model, year, color, and license plate number of your vehicle. If possible, lift the hood and stand by your vehicle. We will respond and assist you as soon as possible.

Automobile Accident Reports

If you or someone you know is involved in an automobile accident on campus, call the UM-Dearborn Department of Police & Public Safety immediately. We are qualified to take accident reports. You can contact dispatch via any of the blue light emergency telephones located throughout campus, by dialing 9-1-1 from any campus phone or by dialing direct at 313-593-5333.

Indicate the parking lot you are in, whether there are any injuries, the make, model, and color of the vehicles involved.

Parking Enforcement and Citations

Please note: The UM-Dearborn Department of Police & Public Safety handles only matters of parking enforcement on campus. For more parking information, visit the Parking & Transportation webpages.

All of the citations that are issued by our office are provided by the 19th District Court.  Any matters regarding ticket prices or to contest a citation, please contact them directly.

Overnight Parking Requests

Please notify our dispatch office at 313-593-5333 and submit information via our special parking request if you need to leave your car overnight for any reason.  This service is provided on a short-term basis only.  Any long-term requests will not be granted.

Please note that non UM-Dearborn affiliates, people that do not pay for the annual parking permit, are ONLY allowed to park in designated visitor parking; all visitors will need to utilize the designated visitor parking
