Once a student has met the following criteria they will move to their college for advising

College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters

CASL first time college

  1. Have completed their first year AND
  2. Are in good academic standing (at least a 2.0 GPA or higher) AND
  3. Have a major declared

 

CASL transfers

  1. Transfers are advised directly through the CASL Advising (as of Winter 2021).
College of Business

COB first time college

  1. Have completed 15 or more UM-Dearborn credits AND
  2. Are in good academic standing (at least 2.0 GPA or higher)

 

COB transfers

  • Transfers are advised directly through the COB Student Services Office.
College of Engineering and Computer Science

CECS first time college

  • Declare a major other than Pre-engineering
    1. Have completed Pre-calculus (Math 105) with a C Grade or higher AND
    2. Have completed General Chemistry 1 (CHEM 134 or 144) with a C Grade or higher AND
    3. Are in good academic standing (at least 2.0 GPA or higher) 
  • And completed at 15 credits at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

 

CECS transfers (Pre-engineering Only) 

  • Declare a major other than Pre-engineering
    1. Have completed Calculus II (Math 116) with a C grade or higher AND
    2. Are in good academic standing (at least 2.0 GPA or higher)
College of Education, Health, and Human Services

CEHHS first time college

  1. Have completed 30 or more UM-Dearborn credits AND
  2. Are in good academic standing (at least 2.0 GPA or higher) AND
  3. Have a major declared

 

CEHHS transfers (with less than 24 credits)

  1. Have completed 24 or more total credits (combined credits earned at UM-Dearborn and other institutions AND
  2. Are in good academic standing (at least 2.0 GPA or higher) AND
  3. Have a major declared
  4. Transfer students bringing 24 or more credits from their former institution will go directly to CEHHS for advising

Advising after your transition.

When you have met the requirements to transition to your academic unit advising offices you will receive an email from START Advising with information about transitioning to your unit advising office. You should plan to meet with your unit advisor as soon as possible to ensure you continue on the path towards graduation.
