  • Be an active undergraduate student at UM-Dearborn for at least one semester during the timeframe of Fall 2017 through the end of Fall 2019.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 at UM-Dearborn

WHAT DOES THE COMEBACK TO DEARBORN GRANT PAY FOR?

With the generous support from UM-Ann Arbor campus, returning students will receive up to $5,000 to help complete their degree at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  The funding will be spread out during the remaining semesters a student needs to complete their degree. In addition, students with a past due balance can use some of this funding to help meet these prior obligations.  That will be part of the financial plan developed for those students interested in participating in the program.

WHAT IF I CANNOT ATTEND CLASSES AS A FULL-TIME STUDENT AND NEED TO GO PART TIME (LESS THAN 12 CREDITS PER SEMESTER)? AM I STILL ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMEBACK TO DEARBORN PROGRAM?

The University of Michigan-Dearborn understands that non-traditional students’ schedules are busy.  The university will accommodate students who need to attend part time.  Academic advisers and Financial Aid staff will help students keep track of their grant monies if the need arises to split the funding between different semesters.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO REJOIN THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN-DEARBORN?

Students who qualify for this program and are interested in coming back to UM-Dearborn to earn their U-M degree should complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out this form to request interest in the program.
  2. Submit a FAFSA to Financial Aid (use UM-Dearborn’s code 002326).

By completing these forms you will be contacted by the appropriate staff who will work with you to build an academic and financial plan.

WHAT ITEMS WILL I NEED TO SUBMIT?

Students will need any college transcripts from coursework completed since leaving UM-Dearborn. Our team will carefully review your credits to determine the maximum amount that can be transferred, depending on your major.  During the COVID crisis, the University is working closely with students by accepting unofficial transcripts until official transcripts are available.

WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO START CLASSES?

The program is effective beginning Fall 2020.  Students interested beginning this Fall must complete the above steps as soon as possible, classes begin Sept. 1. We ask students to review the Fall 2020 plans here, which details the Fall 2020 plans to ensure we keep our community as healthy as possible while making the most of all that UM-Dearborn has to offer.  Students will find primarily remote options which may provide additional flexibility to those students who are thinking about returning.

Those interested in returning Winter 2021, campus modality plans will be released no later than Oct. 1, but we encourage students who are interested in learning more about the program to still complete the above steps and we will work with you throughout Fall 2020 on a plan for a Winter 2021 return.

WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROGRAM?

We encourage you to complete the form here even if you just have questions.  Completing this form does not commit you to anything but will ensure the right individuals can make contact with you.
