Ivett Facundo

Name: Ivett Facundo

Major: Double major in Anthropology and Business Studies with a concentration in Psychology.

Who are you and what is your role in the office?

My name is Ivett Facundo and I am a proud first-generation UM-Dearborn student. I am the Civic Engagement Student Assistant in the Office of Student Life.

Where are you from?

Born and raised in Detroit, MI.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I love exploring different activities that foster my creativity like painting, crafting, and DIYs. Some of the old hobbies I’d like to get back to are playing basketball, softball as well as playing the guitar and clarinet. One thing that I always try to make time for is my friends and family so the occasional game nights or painting nights are a must.

What do you love about UM-Dearborn the most and why?

The one thing I love about UM-Dearborn is that it is a small campus. From the very beginning, I felt a strong sense of community on campus and saw how welcoming people were. I’ve met so many amazing people that have pushed me to be more involved, outgoing, and a better person! The friendships you create in college are the ones that last a lifetime.

What is your favorite season and why do you love it so much?

My favorite season would have to be fall because the weather is perfect! Because the weather is not too hot or too cold, you’re able to enjoy activities outside with friends and dress cozier. I personally love painting and movie nights outside with friends.  I also love the scenery, the vibrant colors you see all around you, perfect for walks.

What do you love about UM-Dearborn the most and why?

I love how passionate and driven the students are, especially our student organizers and leaders. When they want to see something happen on campus, especially in the name of justice, they’ll do everything in their power to make it happen!

My favorite season is Fall! There's so much to enjoy -- sweater weather, evolution of nature, outdoor activities, back-to-school campus events (and the interpersonal connections that happen during them!), and more!
