SUBJECT: LEO Teaching Professor Guidelines and Criteria

Dear Colleagues;

I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying your summer. It is my pleasure to announce the implementation of the LEO Teaching Professor guidelines and criteria on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus. As specified in MoU #8 of the UM|LEO agreement, effective September 1, 2022, Lecturers who reach or have reached their first Continuing Review in their appointment will have the ability to elect consideration for a working title of “Teaching Professor.” In the coming days, and by July 1, 2022, all of our colleges will publish their specific criteria for the “Teaching Professor” title.

Additionally, during the implementation period for the “Teaching Professor'' title, Lecturers who have already completed at least one Continuing Review will have until August 1, 2022, to submit their request for consideration for “Teaching Professor” to their department. Eligible Lecturers will receive confirmation of their review schedule and criteria from their departments by August 19, 2022.

All the very best for a restful and fun summer.
