High schoolers will "Discover Dearborn" at the UM-Dearborn

DEARBORN--- High school juniors, seniors and their parents can "Discover Dearborn" at the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday, April 13. The recruitment event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building, which is located on the south end of campus, between the Fieldhouse and the soon-to-be remodeled University Center.

Prospective students will attend class sessions presented by UM-Dearborn faculty, meet with admissions counselors and ask questions of current students during a panel discussion.

"We're billing the panel as the inside scoop of what it's really like to be a student on campus," according to Gabrielle Williams, assistant director of admissions and orientation at UM-Dearborn, who is organizing the event with A'Lynne Boles, assistant director of admissions and orientation at UM-Dearborn.

Students and parents will attend classes in the morning. Afternoon sessions will offer parents the opportunity to attend sessions on admissions, campus security and a student panel while students participate in an admissions "UM-Dearborn squares" game.

Williams estimates the event will draw about 250 high school students and 100 parents.

UM-Dearborn is located at 4901 Evergreen Rd. between Ford Road and Michigan Avenue. For more information, call the Office of Admissions and Orientation at (313) 593-5100.
