High schoolers will "Discover Dearborn" at the UM-Dearborn

DEARBORN---High school juniors and seniors will "Discover Dearborn" at the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday, November 9. The recruitment event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Building, which is located on the south end of campus, between the Fieldhouse and the soon-to-be remodeled University Center.

"The focus of the program is students and parents coming to campus to experience the quality of instruction that we offer," according to David Placey, director of admissions and orientation.

Prospective students will attend class sessions presented by UM-Dearborn faculty, meet with admissions counselors and ask questions of current students during a panel discussion. UM-Dearborn students will provide the "inside scoop" on topics like academics, professors, extracurricular activities and campus life.

In the morning, students and their parents will attend classes. Afternoon sessions will offer students and parents the opportunity to attend sessions on admissions, financial aid, career services, athletics, recreation and wellness.

"Students and parents who have attended Discover Dearborn previously tell us that the program is unique because of the opportunity to participate in classes taught by faculty," Placey said.

UM-Dearborn is located at 4901 Evergreen Rd. between Ford Road and Michigan Avenue. For more information, call the Office of Admissions and Orientation at (313) 593-5100.
