Biography and Education

Vahe Sahakyan is Senior Information Resources Specialist and Research Associate at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Armenian Research Center. He received his PhD in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2015. He also holds a Candidate of Sciences degree in Sociology from Yerevan State University (2003).

Sahakyan has held various teaching, research and administrative appointments at Yerevan State University (2000-2008), and at the University of Michigan (2008-2016). Since 2018, he is also member of the Armenian Diaspora Survey Project Academic Advisory Committee – a project sponsored by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and implemented under the auspices of the Armenian Institute, London.

Sahakyan’s research interests focus on population movements, immigration and diaspora studies, history and sociology of modern Armenian diaspora.
