Troy Murphy, Ph.D.

Troy Murphy is an Associate Professor of Communication, teaching courses in the Public Communication and Culture Studies and Speech Communication areas of study. His research examines the rhetorical dimensions of democratic citizenship and democratic action in both historical and contemporary contexts. He current research examines the origins of the initiative and referendum movement during the populist and progressive eras. He teaches courses on Persuasion and Social Movements, Public Argument and Advocacy, and 20th Century Public Argument.
