External Grant Awards
Kent Murray, professor of geology and environmental science, received $199,869 additional funding from the National Science Foundation to fund year 5 of his Geoscience Institute for Education and Research. This brings his total award to $1,043,607.
Yi Lu Murphey, professor and chair of electrical and computer engineering, received $175,401 from Ford Motor Company to develop algorithms to predict trip models that create a representative driver-specific vehicle sped profile using both map data and real-time sources.
Pravansu Mohanty, professor of mechanical engineering, received $170,998 from Ford Motor Company to develop new thermal spray processes for lightweight cast aluminum brake rotors.
Tim Davis, director of iLabs, received $102,000 from Ford Motor Company to support a project to improve the Ford Volunteer Corp's philanthropic approach to better serve their partner institutions.
Sang-Hwan Kim, assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, received $42,686 from Hyundai - Kia Motors to oversee a program which will give a visiting scholar research experience in vehicle ergonomics.
