'The End of Race?' Thomas Sugrue visits campus for Conversation on Race series

Thomas Sugrue, an award-winning scholar with expertise in areas relative to race relations, urban history, and American politics, will visit campus Thursday, Feb. 3 as part of UM-Dearborn's "Conversation on Race" lecture series.

Sugrue's discussion titled "The End of Race? Race, Inequality and Diversity in Obama's America" will take place at 1 p.m. in Kochoff Hall at the University Center. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture.

Sugrue is the author of several books, including the Origins of the Urban Crisis: Race and Inequality in Postwar Detroit, Sweet Land of Liberty: The Forgotten Struggle for Civil Rights in the North and Not Even Past: Barack Obama and the Burden of Race.

The "Conversation on Race: Voices of a New Generation" program is an ongoing series designed to promote open, honest discussion about racial issues from past to present and is supported by the Student Activities Office and the Chancellor's Office.
