University of Michigan-Dearborn’s fall 2011 enrollment is 8,955 students, marking the second highest enrollment in the 51-year history of the University. This fall, the University also has seen a 2.5 percent increase in the number of undergraduate students on campus with 7,405, an all-time record for the University.
“The confidence expressed in UM-Dearborn by this record number of undergraduate students reflects the support, excellence and opportunities available here,” says Stanley E. Henderson, vice chancellor, Enrollment Management and Student Life. “The importance of a college education has never been greater in our changing economy, and our university is giving our students a degree that can truly make a difference for them.”
Total new student enrollment, both freshmen and transfer students, stands at 1,820 students. The University hit a few additional milestones with the fall enrollment including the largest freshmen class in 33 years with 966 students as well as the largest transfer class is 27 years with 854 students. UM-Dearborn’s freshman engineering class is also the largest in nine years.
With the additional enrollment UM-Dearborn has not seen its quality fall. Scores remain steady with an average incoming freshman high school GPA of 3.5 and an average ACT score of 24.
“UM-Dearborn offers high-demand academic programs, creative classroom instruction and a commitment to community service that allows students to have a meaningful impact in southeastern Michigan upon graduation,” says Henderson.
