Freshly Pressed: Heretical Fictions

Freshly Pressed highlights books written or edited by members of the UM-Dearborn community. Lawrence I. Berkove, professor emeritus of English language and literature, and his co-author Prof. Joseph Csicsila of Eastern Michigan University recently wrote Heretical Fictions: Religion in the Literature of Mark Twain, published by the University of Iowa Press.

The book already has received a number of highly favorable reviews for its innovative and persuasive approaches to important areas of Twain studies.

Both authors were interviewed recently by station WGN in Chicago and invited to the Mark Twain Center of Elmira College to discuss the book. In addition, Berkove was invited by the Friends of the Detroit Public Library to speak on Mark Twain and the library’s Twain collection at an Oct. 15 reception, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of Mark Twain’s death.
