American artist Claes Oldenburg is best known for sculpting large-scale hamburgers, ice cream cones, cushiony toilets and typewriters from canvas and vinyl. He is anchored in the public consciousness as a pop artist.

Nadja Rottner, University of Michigan-Dearborn assistant professor of art history, recently edited a collection of writings about Oldenburg’s art, titled Claes Oldenburg. The book, published by MIT Press, was released this month. Purchase a copy of the book.
