External Awards

Weidong Xiang, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, received a $50,000 grant from Cisco Systems Inc. to support development of a prototype for a real-time automotive wireless access application.

 

Request for Proposals:  Campus Grants

There are three Campus Grants accepting submissions for the Dec. 15 proposal deadline: Step-2 Grants for Research, EIC Environmental Sustainability Research Grant, and the Educational Enhancement Grants. Please note that all proposals must be written so that they will be understood by faculty outside of the applicant’s discipline. Please limit the use of formulae, technical terminology, jargon and acronyms. All proposals must adhere to the proposal guidelines with regard to content, page length, font size and applicant eligibility.

Step-2 Grants for Research

Maximum Award:  $15,000

Four Awards Available

Deadline:  Thursday, Dec. 15

This award replaces the Rackham Research Grant and is designed to foster high-quality scholarship and research. Proposals should relate to the applicant’s professional career goals and have the potential to be sustainable. Researchers submitting to this category must be able to demonstrate previous productivity and projects will result in tangible products such as papers, presentations or external grant proposals. EIC Environmental-Sustainability Research Grants

Maximum Award $12,000

One Award available

Deadline: Thursday, Dec. 15

The Environmental Interpretive Center and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs provide funds to tenured or tenure-track faculty for research and scholarship related to sustainability, conservation, and/or environmental education and research.

The project must foster high-quality scholarship and research, have the potential to be sustainable, will result in tangible products such as papers, presentations or grant proposals.

Educational Enhancement Grants

Maximum Award $1,500 (unit match is strongly encouraged)

Deadline:  Thursday, Dec. 15

This award is designed to enhance the educational experiences of students through the development of new courses and curricula or the purchase of one-time course materials or equipment. Eligible projects include requests for funding related to developing a new course, strengthening or revising several courses, and developing new materials or methods. Ineligible projects include one-time activities such as field trips or attendance at special events.
