Chancellor Domenico Grasso provided the following updates at the public meeting:
- An overview of the UM-Dearborn Fall 2022 Commencement Ceremony
- College of Business Poets & Quants rise in national online MBA ranking
- CIO of the Year Orbie awarded to Carrie Shumaker, chief information and strategy officer and Casandra Ulbrich, vice chancellor for institutional advancement, receiving the National Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Boards of Education
- News of the James C. Renick University Center renaming
The Regents approved the following personnel actions:
Joint or additional appointments or transfers of regular associate or full professors and selected academic and administrative staff.
Bruce R. Maxim, as the Narasimhamurthi “Nattu” Natarajan Collegiate Professor, CECS, effective Nov. 1, 2022 through Aug. 31, 2027 (also professor of computer and information science, with tenure).
Yi Lu Murphey, as the Paul K. Trojan Collegiate Professor, CECS, effective Dec. 1, 2022 through Aug. 31, 2027 (also professor of electrical and computer engineering, with tenure).
Adoption of Memorial Statement:
Keith A. Dye, associate professor of African and African American Studies and History, Department of Social Sciences, with tenure and associate professor of College-Wide Programs, with tenure, CASL, Sept. 25, 2022.
Adoption of Retirement Memoirs:
John Chern, Ph.D., professor of mechanical engineering, CECS, will retire from active faculty status on Dec. 31, 2022.
Approved Emeritus/a Faculty Appointments:
Donald J. Bord, professor emeritus of Physics, Physical Sciences, Department of Natural Sciences, CASL, Aug. 29 through Dec. 31, 2022.
