The October Board of Regents meeting included the approval of personal actions and the transfer of faculty to the new Department of Language, Culture, and the Arts in CASL.
This month’s meeting was held at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Chancellor Grasso provided the following updates at the public Oct. 20 meeting:
- The recently announced Chancellors’ Inclusive Excellence Fellows
- Resuming the Thought Leaders speaker series
- Scott Page, Distinguished University Professor of Complexity, on the Ann Arbor campus delivered a talk on the benefits of building diverse teams through a systems analysis lens
- President Clayton Spencer and Professor April Hill from Bates College, who discuss “Purposeful Work and STEM Equity” will be on campus in November
- Professor Desmond Patton, from Penn, will speak on the use of data science to understand the impact of social media on mental health and adults of color, also in November
- Early discussions with Tony Kolenic, Director, Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, to help us reimagine our Environmental Interpretive Center and Study Area
- University Center renaming ceremony in honor of James C. Renick scheduled for November 17
- Recap of the first Town Gown bike ride last month
CASL has recently established the Department of Language, Culture, and the Arts.
