On September 1, Sollenberger joined University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Provost Office as its new associate provost for undergraduate programs and integrative learning.
Sollenberger, UM-Dearborn associate professor of political science, brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously worked on developing undergraduate programs.
“I am excited to take on such a challenging position and help to strengthen the undergraduate education at the university,” he said.
In his new role, Sollenberger will oversee the development of undergraduate programs and the entities and activities that comprise resources for teaching and learning. That includes co-chairing the new university curriculum and degree committee, as well as working with UM-Dearborn faculty and staff to ensure quality undergraduate academic programming.
Since joining the university as an assistant professor in 2008, Sollenberger also has handled administrative tasks for the social sciences department and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters. This year, Sollenberger played a vital role in developing by-laws for the new College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS).
“It was a fun experience working with a great group of people,” said Sollenberger, in reference to his work with the CEHHS governance advisory group.
Sollenberger, who has written three books and been published in a number of articles, will continue to teach at UM-Dearborn this semester.
He received a master’s and doctoral degrees in politics from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
