The Board of Regents and president of the University of Michigan will formally welcome Domenico Grasso as the sixth chancellor of the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Friday, April 12, 2019, with a day of academic showcases, an installation ceremony and a celebratory reception.

The installation ceremony, which will take place at the Fieldhouse at 1 p.m., is a longstanding tradition that serves to officially install Grasso as chancellor. Organizers say the event will honor UM-Dearborn’s legacy of excellence and celebrate the bright future ahead.
The program will include remarks from several prominent speakers with connections to Grasso and the university, including Rep. Debbie Dingell (D, M-12), Ford Motor Co. President and CEO Jim Hackett, U-M President Mark Schlissel and Prairie View A&M President Ruth Simmons, and music from violinist Xiang Gao.
An academic processional will precede the ceremony with representation from the UM-Dearborn faculty, U-M campus colleagues and other key universities across the state and country.
