“Choosing the inaugural dean is an important task for the entire campus community as the success of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services is central to the continued growth of the university and to the fulfillment of our metropolitan mission to address the challenges of southeastern Michigan,” said Donald Bord, professor of physics and search committee chair.
The search committee met with eight preliminary candidates earlier this month before narrowing the field to four finalists, Bord said.
Finalist open forums begin Monday afternoon. Those who attend a session will be invited to complete an electronic survey to offer feedback on that candidate to the search committee.
“Such feedback will be important in guiding the post-visit deliberations of the search committee and in assisting us in making our final recommendations to Provost Kate Davy,” Bord said.
The open forum session and reception for the first finalist has been announced:

The School of Education transitioned to the College of Education, Health, and Human Services Sept. 1. The change reflected the university’s goal to build upon the strengths of the education programs while developing health programs to meet increased student interest and industry demands.
