Hundreds of high school juniors and seniors from across Michigan descended upon UM-Dearborn on Saturday, March 26 for the sixth annual Engineering/Computer Science Experience.

The annual contest, hosted by UM-Dearborn's College of Engineering and Computer Science, features student teams competing against each other in the areas of engineering, web design and computer programming for scholarships and class prizes.

The Engineering Contest awarded prizes to four teams. First place went to Austin Basnaw and Leslie Ligon from Belleville High School, second place was awarded to Brandon Bilicki and Mason Larkin of Livonia Career Technical Center, Mike Czarnecki and Warren Markowsky of Trenton High School received third place with the honorable mention going to Feras Al-Hourani and Riley King from the Livonia Career Technical Center.

The Computer Programming Contest was won by Ben Vander Sloot and Stuart Wheaton of the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center, which had 35 students participating in the Competition. Second place was awarded to Jake Jensen and Kris McAtee of Midland High School.

Alex Binno of Bishop Foley Catholic High School won the Web Design Contest with second place going to Aaron Buckley and Ben Walker from Saint Mary's Preparatory.

Throughout the day when the students weren't competing they had the opportunity to meet current UM-Dearborn engineering students, view projects such as award-winning cars and robots, and learn about the University's engineering programs.
