MALS and CASL Honors Program name new directors

March 12, 2012

Two University of Michigan-Dearborn faculty members can add a new title to their resume.

Liz Rohan

Liz Rohan, associate professor of composition and rhetoric, recently accepted a three-year appointment as director of the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program.

“I am impressed with the creativity Liz has brought to the American Studies program, and with her vision to move the MALS program forward,” said Jerold Hale, College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters dean.

Rohan’s research interests focus on technologies and writing, gender and writing, feminist research methodologies, literacy studies and creative nonfiction/life writing.

But Rohan isn’t the only one on campus sporting a new title. Gerry Moran, professor of history, also accepted a three-year appointment as director of the Honors Program.

Gerry Moran

“Gerry brings a balance of appreciation for the tradition of the Honors Program and forward thinking to the position,” Hale said. “He has articulated an ambitious vision for the program's future.”

Moran replaces Sid Bolkosky, who retired after directing the Honors Program for a quarter century.

Hale said he looks forward to the leadership Rohan and Moran will bring to their new roles.
