Trial database
The Mardigian Library currently has a free trial of the following database:

Reader’s Guide Retrospective: 1890-1982
Available through October 20, 2012

This resource indexes articles from 240 periodicals published in the U.S. and Canada between 1890 and 1982, covering current events and news, fine arts, fashion, education, business, sports, health, consumer affairs, etc.  Provides separate access to the earlier years of the Readers' Guide index.

If you are interested in this resource, please go to the Library’s website, click on the “Faculty Services” link, click on the “Trial Databases” link at the bottom of the left hand column, and sign in with your User name and UM-Dearborn password.

We encourage you to try Reader’s Guide Retrospective: 1890-1982 and give us some feedback.  A positive review does not guarantee that we will have funds to acquire the item, but it could help us determine whether we should pursue this item when funds are available. Sage Knowledge Online Reference Collection 2012
Sage Knowledge (formerly known as Sage Reference Online) has added a new collection of e-reference books.  New titles include: Encyclopedia of Global Studies; Encyclopedia of Diversity in Education; Cultural Sociology of the Middle East, Asia and Africa: An Encyclopedia; Encyclopedia of Community Corrections; Encyclopedia of Consumption and Waste; Encyclopedia of Transnational Crime & Justice; Encyclopedia of Gender in Media; Encyclopedia of New Venture Management; Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change, 2nd ed.; and Ethics, Law, and Policy.

This database provides full-text access to renowned resources such as Perry's Handbook for Chemical Engineers and Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers. Also included are powerful search tools, interactive tables and graphs, global engineering news, time-saving curriculum guides, and instructional videos and student study guides.

Humanities E-Book  
Humanities E-Book contains full-text access to more than 3700 high-quality books selected by the American Council of Learned Societies. Works are included from most fields in the humanities, including area studies, native peoples of the Americas, women’s studies, historical studies, archaeology, art history, biblical studies, linguistics, literature and literary criticism, musicology, philosophy, political science, religion, sociology and more.

National Geographic Magazine Archive
National Geographic Magazine Archive features the complete archive of National Geographic from 1888-1994. It includes every article and every photograph for 100+ years, all fully searchable.

Women and Social Movements International, 1840-present
This database provides materials related to women’s social movements all over the world. The collection includes the public writings of women activists, personal letters and diaries, and conference proceedings from important meetings of women’s organizations. Users can search by keyword or browse by theme, people, places, or organizations.

PsycTESTS
PsycTests includes full-text of psychological tests, measures, scales, surveys, and other assessments.  Information on test development and administration is also provided. The database focuses primarily on unpublished tests developed by researchers, but not made commercially available. Along with keyword searching, the database may also be searched by test format, age group, administration method, and whether or not the test may be freely used for teaching and research.
