At the Feb. 16 Board of Regents meeting, Chancellor Grasso was reappointed to five more years of leadership, they acknowledged Professor Michael LaChance's December 2022 retirement after 43 years of UM-Dearborn service, major gifts were shared and more.

The Feb. 16 Board of Regents meeting included the approval of personnel actions, including the reappointment of Chancellor Domenico Grasso, and the most recent gift report.

Chancellor Grasso provided the following updates at the public meeting:

·  Shared condolences and support for the MSU community and new about the campus vigil held last week.

·  Provide an overview of this year’s State of the University address.  

·  Mentioned UM-Dearborn’s strong faculty showing in a Stanford University citation database.

·  Acknowledged the university’s strong Fulbright engagement.

The Regents approved the following personnel actions:

 Reappointments of regular instructional staff and selected academic and administrative staff

Domenico Grasso, chancellor, effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028 (also professor of sustainable engineering, with tenure, CECS, and professor of public policy and administration, with tenure, CASL). 

Tracy A. Vogt, as university registrar, effective February 13, 2023.

Armen Zakarian, vice provost for research, Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, effective January 1, 2023 through September 1, 2023 (also chair, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, with tenure, College of Engineering and Computer Science).

New appointments of instructional staff represented by the Lecturers' Employee Organization

Dale J. Igram, Ph.D., Lecturer I, Physical Sciences, CASL, January 1 through April 30, 2023. 

Adoption of Retirement Memoir

Michael Lachance, Ph.D., professor of mathematics, CASL, retired from active faculty status on December 31, 2022 following 43 years of service to the university.
